Sonke Learnership application: Sonke is offering a 12-month learnership program for young South African individuals who would like to develop their potential and strong business skills. The Sonke Learnership is a great opportunity that offers a chance for citizens to study for free. At the same time, you will be given the freedom to start your own business venture and earn a stipend from the program.
Throughout the learnership, participants will be entitled to a stipend of up to R1 100 as they obtain new knowledge and learn how to trade only. Additionally, candidates will be eligible for a data package of up to 30 gigabytes per month to support their learning journey. Learn While You Earn
Sonke isn’t a permanent job, it’s the knowledge that gives you personal economic freedom. But, because we think focussing on your business education is important, you’ll be earning an R 1,315.00, stipend while participating in our learning programs.
Trading For The Learners
By using the trading option on Sonke, you can make more money on top of what you earn from your stipend. This is the practical side of the app, you buy products in the app using the Trading Wallet section and make a profit selling these products to your neighbors.
Grow Your Business
By completing all your modules throughout the Sonke Learnership, you’ll receive the tools and skills you need to empower yourself, become an entrepreneur, and grow a profitable business from the ground up. The Sonke Learnership will be with you for every step of your journey.
The Future Is Digital
To ensure you have access to the internet during your Sonke Learnership, all participants will receive 30 gigs of data every month. Sonke Learnership Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in the Sonke Learnership must first fulfil the eligibility criteria that come with the program. Each of these items below will determine whether you are capable enough of participating in the program or not. To be considered an ideal fit for the learnership, please meet all of these items below. Failure to do so will cause disadvantageous consequences for the overall result of your applications. What Do I Need To Qualify For Sonke Learnership?
The Sonke Learnership Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be between the ages of 18-28.
- Be currently unemployed.
- Have access to a smartphone or computer.
- Be a first-time entrepreneurial student.
- Proof of a Grade 10 qualification.
- Be able to receive and send emails, SMS’s, and Whatsapp’s.
- Have a smartphone or laptop/computer available with enough memory to download the leadership’s app (sonke learnership app download)
- Be able to receive and send WhatsApp messages, emails, and SMS regularly
- Has not participated in an entrepreneurship programme before this
- Obtain an MTN prepaid SIM card at your own expense
- Self-motivated to participate in this program.
Sonke Learnership 2024/2025 application: Application Instructions

If you happen to encounter a reached limit when submitting your applications, please send your ID number through email to this address: info@sonke.co.za. The selection committee will then check whether you are eligible for the program or not.
There are several steps that candidates must follow to process their applications:
Step #01: participate in a prequalification screening – once approved, you may continue to fill in the rest of your applications.
Step #02: After receiving confirmation that your application was successful, you will obtain two documents through email, which are a learnership agreement and a contract of employment. These must be signed and sent to the Head Office (PEP to PEP info) within 7 days.
Step #03: Once the committee has received your paperwork, you may begin your learnership, in which you will begin to receive your stipend from the first month.
By sending in your applications, you are hereby giving permission to have your personal information utilized by the selection committee for registration purposes.
Applications will be subjected to further evaluation and vetting procedures to verify the validity of candidates. Candidates found to be falsifying any aspects of their applications will not be considered for the program.
Candidates must process their applications through the online portal above. Submissions made through other methods, such as fax or hand delivery, will not be accepted.
