MQA Learnership
The Mining Qualification Authority (MQA) is a statutory body established in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act No. 29 of 1996 and is a registered Sector Education and Training Authority for the Mining and Minerals Sector in terms of the Skills Development Act No 97 of 1998. The Mining Qualifications Authority works as SETA and’s responsible for the administration of skills development programmes for the mining and minerals sector in South Africa. The mission of the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is to ensure that the mining and minerals sector has sufficient competent people who will improve health and safety, employment equity, and increase productivity standards.
MQA Learnership Offer vocational, educational and training programme that combines structured workplace learning and institutional learning governed by an agreement between MQA and the learner. The delivery modes for programmes are theoretical components Which are delivered by the skills development provider and the Practical component is delivered by the skills development provider/workplace. Lastly, the Workplace component which delivered by the Workplace. At the end of this learnership, the successful candidate will be in qualification registered on the National Qualification Framework.
The Mining Qualification Authority (MQA) registers artisan Learnership including Instrumentation Mechanician, Ragging Ropesman, Diesel Mechanic, Plater Welder, Plater Boilermaker, Fitting including Machining, Millwright, Fitting and Turning, Electrical, Plater/Welder and Non-Artisan Learnrship including Engineering Maintenance, Diamond Processing, Geology, Automotive Repair and maintenance, Chemical Operation, Production Management, Mining Operation.
MQA Learnership Requirements
Here are the minimum eligibility criteria to consider before applying for MQA learnership programmes:
- A grade 12 or Matric Equivalent certificate.
- National Diploma or equivalent at NQF level 6 in a related discipline.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent at NQF Level 7 in the related discipline.
- NQF level 2-5 qualification when required.
- Must be a South Africa Citizen.
- Have a legal identity Document with a proven Resident.
The candidate must have the following skills and competencies to added advantage:
- Numeracy skills and literacy.
- Relevant computer skills (MS Office) will be an advantage.
- Good communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to pay attention to detail.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- Possess a proactive attitude.

MQA Learnership Stipend
MQA offer Monthly Stipends that are paid as per the Sectoral for the entire Learnership period.
