The Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) is a statutory body that serves the safety and security environment of South Africa with the facilitation of skills development and qualifications. SASSETA acts as the education and training quality assurance for the South African safety and security industry. SASSETA works effectively and efficiently with employers and training providers to understand the impact of industry-relevant skills to provide opportunity and prosperity to all.
SASSETA is a bridge that connects employers, training providers, and learners. the public and private sectors. SASSETA’s works environment covers both the public and private sectors. In the public security sector, government security agencies and law enforcement bodies work to protect and serve the public and the interests of the state. Companies and bodies provide private security and legal services in the private security sector.

The SASSETA learning programme will give candidates career guidance and additional resources so that they can excel and thrive. SASSETA has a couple of different fields available for successful candidates, they include Policing, Disciplinary action, Justice, Administration, Forensic Science, Defence, Investigating, Legal, Witness Support, Investigation, Criminology, National Intelligence, Private Security, and Criminal Transportation. This learnership programme is normally registered via a SETA with the Department of Labour
SASSETA Learnership Requirements
Candidates must adhere to the following minimum requirement qualifications
To be considered:
- Must be a South African citizen and hold a valid ID document.
- Grade 12/ Matric/NQF certificate or Equivalent.
- Holder of a National Diploma/ degree certificate qualification or equivalent within their field of application.
- exceptional communication skills(Verbal & Written).
- Clean and Clear criminal record.
- Exceptional Mathematics Literacy will add an advantage.
- Strong English literacy and one other language will be advantageous.
SASSETA Learnership 2025/2026 online application
Learnerships online application processes are made available during the year, depending on the learning provider’s needs for more detailed information on the SASSETA website. The application Form must be accompanied by all relevant documentation including a certified copy of the certificate of Qualifications, a certified copy of ID and a detailed CV. To be eligible to run for office, you must complete the application form completely and sign it before sending it in. SASSETA Learnerships Closing Date

SASSETA Learnership Stipend
