SAPS Learnership
South Africa Police Service (SAPS) is a police force organization responsible for law enforcement in South Africa. The mission of the South African Police Service is to protect the safety and security of all communities, investigate any crimes that threaten this, and make sure offenders are brought to justice. The Department’s strategic goals are to reduce the number of serious, contact, and trio crimes, increase the detection rate, and increase the conviction rates for these crimes. Additionally, the Department wants to improve African Agenda and sustainable development by deploying members to various locations.
SAPS Learnership is a program offered to candidates who want to develop and grow their skills and knowledge through work-based learning programs consisting of theory and practical elements that allow gaining work experience. the duration of the Learning Programme will be 24 months, of which 12 months will be at the Academy and 12 months in the workplace. The South African Police Services Learnerships may include the following: Road Policing, Freeway Patrol, By-Law Policing, The Equestrian Unit, Crime prevention, and The Canine Unit.
SAPS Learnership Requirements
Candidates will also be required to have the following basic requirements to be considered to take part in this program:
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent.
- Tertiary qualification certificate or equivalent.
- Senior Certificate in Mathematics and Science when necessary.
- Diploma/degree relevant required field.
- Permanent residence in RSA with National Identity Document as proof.
- Must physically and mentally fit the profile.
- Fluent in English and another official language.
- Clean and neat criminal record.
- Computer literacy will be advantageous.
- A valid Driver’s license when necessary.
SAPS Learnership 2025/2026 online application
Candidates are asked to deliver the completed application with the required certified documentation to the offices from which they collected the forms since the SAPS Learnership application process is not available online. You can only apply if you go to a SAPS office in your region or province. If you submit your application by fax or email, it will be rejected. Also, fail to include all of your paperwork, your application will also be rejected.

- Certified copy of Qualified Certificates.
- Certified copy of ID document.
- Copy valid motor vehicle driver’s license when required.
- The application form.
It’s the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the application has been received at the indicated office on or before the closing date and time of the advertisement. Exceptional to this application form can be obtained from the SAPS website but application forms should be delivered by hand.

SAPS Learnership Stipend.
The successful candidate will receive a monthly stipend, free meals and accommodation Polmed medical aid ( lower plan membership, no pension fund) for the phase 10 months of the programme. Also, the candidate will receive a monthly stipend, Own meals, and accommodation, Polmed medical aid (lower or higher plan membership, pension fund, and all other benefits (Leave, allowances, for 12 of phase 2 of the program until completion of the program.
