Lonmin Plc, the world’s third-largest producer of platinum was founded in 1909 and originated in Lonrho, which had extensive mining and other diverse operations across Africa. In recent years, these other businesses have been sold and the company is focusing on platinum group metals (PGMs). The operations centre is located in the Marikana district, east of Rustenburg, in the North West Province of South Africa.
Lonmin Learnership programme recruits a young inexperienced professional to ensure sufficient discipline and experienced professionals with specific skills available for the mining industry business. Lonmin provides learnerships in the following career paths: Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Rock Engineering, Metallurgy, Diesel Mechanics, Diamond Processing, Jewellery Manufacturing, Analytical Chemistry Boiler-making, Fitting and Turning, Welding, Rigging, Instrumentation, Finance, Human, Resources, Administration.
Lonmin Learnership Requirements
Candidates wishing to apply for this learnership position must ensure that they meet the following minimum criteria
- Diploma/degree in the relevant field when required.
- Technical Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualification or N2 with the relevant trade theory.
- Mathematics and Science with a standard Grade of 60% or higher and on Higher Grade of 50% or higher
- A minimum of 60% for Mathematics (Standard Grade) OR 50% for Mathematics (Higher Grade) in Matric
- A minimum of 60% for Science (Standard Grade) OR 50% for Science (Higher Grade) in Matric
- Grade 9 or equivalent ABET 4 qualification.
- Relevant computer skills (MS Office) will be an advantage.
- Exceptional command of the English language.
