Fire Fighter Learnership

The seasonal firefighter leanership program is an uninformed post requiring several certain things from the participants. For a starter, the candidates must be physically fit and healthy with no respiratory abnormalities or cardiac problems. They will have to go through a criminal check, medical evaluation, drug test, and fitness examination before the appointment

The Fire Fighter learnership is a collaborative program between Fire Training Academy and Fire and Rescue Services. The idea is to provide a chance for qualifying and talented individuals to learn and train to become professional and skilled firefighters. Besides getting the knowledge and theoretical skills of the program, candidates will also gain helpful working experience and professional conduct when joining this program. The programme will be based on fire awareness and education, fire prevention and fire suppression skills.

Fire Fighter Learnership Requirements.

The minimum required qualification candidates must have to be considered for programmes are:

A National Senior Certificate (NSC: Schools) or National Senior Certificate (NSC: FET Colleges) or National Certificate (Vocational) 4 with Mathematics as a passed subject
Basic Computer literacy(Word, Excel);
Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent NQF level 6 added advantage
Higher Certificate in Fire Technology (SAESI) or Level 3 Certificate I.F.E or NQF Level 5 (T1) will be advantageous
A valid Driving licence preferred
Grade 12 qualification (Mathematics and Physical Science preferred)
Medically and physically fit ( not suffer from Acrophobia and Claustrophobia).
Be able to work in a team, on short notice and cope with stressful situations
Clear and clean criminal record

Key Performance Areas

All successfully shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake and pass the following compulsory fitness test

Reach test (1.9 m)
2.4 km run (Males 11minutes and Females 13 minutes)
Push-ups (30 in 60 seconds)
Sit-ups (30 in 60 seconds)
Dead load carries (2 x 25 kg drums over a distance of 100 m)

Fire Fighter Learnership Closing Date

The Opening and closing dates of application vary depending on the position available. Applicants are encouraged to ensure that they submit their application early the better. The firefighter will not consider any late application.

Fire Fighter Learnership Stipend.

When you successfully candidate to register for a Learnership you will be paid a monthly allowance known as a Learnership stipend for the entire learnership duration.
