Eskom Learnership Programme
Eskom is a state-owned entity implemented under government policy. The Eskom short-to-medium-term and long-term objectives to achieve are outlined by The Shareholder’s Strategic Intent Statement (SIS). Eskom has adopted these SIS objectives to ensure that Eskom remains a critical and strategic contributor to the government’s goal of ensuring the security of electricity supply to the country and enabling economic growth and prosperity.
Eskom Learnership Programme aims to adhere to one of the most serious socioeconomic challenges in South Africa the fact that young people are the biggest cohort of new job seekers and are therefore the most vulnerable group to unemployment. The main reason contributing to it is lack of experience Although there are various reasons for youth unemployment such as population growth, inappropriate ways of searching for a job, and lack of career guidance in schools, the unemployment rate for first-time job-seekers in South Africa is unacceptably high.
Thus. Eskom decide to take serious initiative measures by providing various work-based Learning programmes as an effort to address both of these problems, the government looked for practical ways to educate the population and organise training systems for school leavers and unemployed adults. Eskom is offering Artisan Training Programme Opportunities within various Departments in the following Disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, and Measurement Control and Instrumentation.
