ECD Learnership
Early childhood development (ECD) is a comprehensive approach to programmes and policies for children from birth to seven years of age. Its purpose is to protect the rights of children to develop their full cognitive, emotional, social, and physical potential. The Department of Basic Education is responsible for children in grades R. The National Integrated Early Childhood Development Policy is aimed at transforming early childhood development service delivery in South Africa, in particular, to address critical gaps and to ensure the provision of comprehensive, universally available, and equitable early childhood development services.
ECD Learnership is a South African established Program as a way to give back to the community. Youth and jobless people benefit from the learnership program (formally known as an internship) because it gives them the theoretical grounding and practical skills they require. The ECD learnership programme develops pathways for young people by providing enhanced business acumen thereby providing links to other economic opportunities. They require those abilities and credentials for their own personal growth and future improvement. Through the 12-month internship program, students can improve their employment prospects in addition to acquiring the necessary skills.
