The Commercial Professional Driver (CPD) Academy is well known as a training centre that offers a Professional Truck Driver for better-trained drivers The CPD Academy strives to improve the learning conditions for its students. It is an institution focused on providing the best training for drivers seeking vacant employment positions. The CPD academy starts the training centre to address the serious challenge of obtaining well-trained drivers to meet their requirements.
CPD Academy has investigated many concepts and has established the best possible training methods to ensure that all learners, no matter what their age and experience level will become highly trained and invaluable to their field aims to set a benchmark for future training of professional drivers in the country and provides relevant training to learners seeking to further a career in professional driving.
CPD Academy Learnership is a vocational education and training programme to facilitate the linkage between structured learning and work experience in order to obtain a registered qualification that can help you to gain the necessary skills and workplace experience that will open up better employment or self-employment opportunities. It combines theory and workplace practise into a qualification that is registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
CPD Academy Learnership offers two courses Professional Truck Driver and Transport Clerk thus giving the candidate freedom to choose which courses to go for.
CPD Academy Learnership Requirements
Professional Truck Driver: prepare a learner to operate as a Truck Driver. Truck drivers operate trucks with a GVM in excess of 3,500 kilograms and ensure the safe transportation of cargo from point of departure to point of arrival.
A qualified learner will be able to:
- Plan and prepare a truck for transportation.
- Operate a truck.
- Maintain operational documents and records.
The following are entry Minimum requirements for Professional Truck Driver Learnership:
- At least a Grade 10 certificate
- Minimum age 27 years.
- Be able to communicate in English / Afrikaans.
- Be to pay for the registration fee.
- Class commences – on presentation of Code 14 EC license
- Valid EC license with PrDP.
- Valid ID or Passport.
- No criminal record.
Transport Clerk: prepare a learner to operate as a Transport Clerk. A Transport Clerk compiles and keeps records of operational aspects and coordinates the timing of passenger services in accordance with a schedule, contract and/or private hire, and prepares reports for management.
A qualified learner will be able to:
- Plan and prepare transport schedule.
- Allocate and dispatch drivers to shifts.
- Monitor and inspect trips and maintain operational documents and records.
- Prepare reports for management.
To take part as a transport clerk Learner candidate is required to consider the following entry Requirements
- Grade 12, with English and Mathematics.
- Minimum age of 22.
- Females are highly encouraged to apply.
- Fluent in English or Afrikaans (read, write and speak).

CPD Academy Learnership Stipend
The learner will be earning a stipend allowance between R12 000 and R26 000 Gross salary over a period of 13 months. Moreover, there will be other Learner Benefits like:

- Quicker employment – irrespective of license date.
- On-the-job training- invaluable experience.
- Earn a salary from phase 2 of training (month 3).
- Receive a certificate on completion of each phase of training and formal qualification after completion of all phases.
