Columbus Stainless is situated in Middelburg in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa. Columbus Stainless created a modern, efficient stainless steel production facility that meets the changing demands of users in the domestic market and around the world. Columbus Stainless is part of the Acerinox Group of companies that produce austenitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, and duplex stainless in plate, sheet, coil, and strip.
Columbus Learnership is an opportunity offered to unemployed South African youths who are interested in training as production field operators. This Learnership Program will Provide Candidates with the fundamentals of the industry which will include both theoretical evaluations and practical working sessions that will take place in a real-world corporate environment. During the programme Candidate will be working under the supervision of expert training providers and a certificate will be provided to the candidate who completes the programme.
Columbus Learnership Requirements.
To be eligible for this learnership position candidates must meet the following requirements:
- National Diploma / BEng Tech in the following disciplines:
- Metallurgy
- Mechanical
- Instrumentation
- Operations Management
- Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
- A degree/Diploma or equivalent qualification will be an advantage.
- Good organizational skills in an administrative role, effective time management, and flexibility
- Excellent attention to detail and works well under pressure
- Eagerness to work movements and extra time in our 24-hour activity
- Good verbal and written communication skills

Columbus Learnership Stipend.
Successful candidates will receive a minimum amount as the Learnership Stipend covers expenses like travel and meals. This means the candidate will be paid monthly while you are on the entire learnership.
Note: Upon successful completion of the long-term (least preparation) programme, you’ll be awarded an NQF Level 2 MERSETA metals manufacturing capability, preparing you for the eventual configuration in a metals creation environment.
